Thank you for this article. Perhaps we can share ideas on this subject and learn from them.
I don’t think it’s “dullness or turbulence that might seem to associate itself with a material sense of church as variable and vulnerable.”
I think the answer lies in the following from the clerk of TMC who gave reasons of why people are not returning to our Church at the last annual meeting in Boston.
And our Leader, MBE, provides some more insights into successful church attendance.
Further, when I attended the 2014 Midwest Church alive meeting the number one thing people in my breakout group said they were looking for in church was “fellowship”. Another woman stated: “Our CS branch recently closed because we focused on us and not our community”.
If the love is lacking in the material sense of church from their usher and branch board of directors then could that effect church attendance or the lack thereof? I wonder if Mrs. Eddy were alive to the human sense today what she would have to say. And if the youth make up attendance in the future then what happened that they stopped attending?
Perhaps the following quotes can shed a light on this issue.
